Tell us what you think about the possibility of taking courses online. What are the trade-offs between this approach to education and an experience complete with classrooms and in-person interactions? What are the benefits and drawbacks? Have you ever taken an online course or used an instructional video like those from Vi Hart or Khan Academy? If so, what did you think? Can you see video and online instruction replacing traditional classes? Do you think it is the wave of the future?

I think that taking classes online are not good for people.  It blocks people off from the world.  Even if you have social problem you still should attend school the normal way.  Attending school the normal way causes you to meet new people and experience new things.
People can become isolated from the world and never learn how to verbally communicate with people.  Then people would not be able to get certain jobs because they can't socialize with others.  That is going to cause a decline on people who can talk on adequate level.
Things like that are bad for the people of the society. No one would be able to talk to anyone or be communicative.  That's why online classes are bad.

I think that googling is affecting the way people remember things in a bad way.  People don't have to remember all they do is google.  They only use google and not a library or their minds.  People need to try and think for once and not use the internet.

You may have heard the phrase, "Choose your battles." Write about a battle in school that you think is worth fighting, or one that isn't. Why?

The battle I think is worth fighting in school is the battle of teacher lateness. Teachers think they can cancel a project presentation and then just expect a student to present a any given time without notice.  No child is a machine we don't have everything off the top off our minds. I think that is unfair.  Teachers can't just cancel things then a week later come out and say you have to present your projects.  We are normal people too aren't machines.

Dear Motorola Atrix,

You are a very special thing to me.  You have only been with me a few months but I enjoy having you around.  You have created fun for me and made me enjoy a times where I needed you the most.  You control my music and my games.  You have a part of my memories in you.

Little do you know I always have you with me.  I keep you protected from thieves and keep you in good shape.  You deserve good treatment because you are a great phone.  You can do many things like take pictures and play music.

I enjoy my phone, I appreciate your company.   You have the power to brighten my day or ruin my day.  This phone is more than a phone to me.  It means the world to me you give me fun.

Sincerely, Aamirr Bailey-Fenderson

Tell us how you feel about the school Dress Code. What is your opinion on School Uniforms? Why do you think it is necessary or unnecessary to wear school uniforms? Do you think that students are reacting properly to mandatory school uniforms? What do you think is the effect of mandatory school uniforms? What suggestions do you have to improve the Uniform/Dress Code at East Orange Campus High School?

I think that school uniforms are disgusting.  School uniforms violate a student's right to freedom of expression.  I think public schools are not the place for uniforms.  Our clothing is the way that we kids express ourselves. Another thing is that low income families may not be able to afford uniforms for their child.
If the school wants kids to dress in uniforms then the school should buy the uniforms and give it
to the kids for free. You want it then you pay for it.  Everyone should be able to express their own creativity.  Every morning I look for my school uniform underneath all of my nice looking clothes. We look the same everyday. But I do agree if we were to have free choice then, yes, we should dress appropriately. But it's most likely we would.
In conclusion, I don't think we should have school uniforms because they don't show individuality and they are boring. Kids don't want to all look the same.  Why would we want to look like everyone else.

if you want to make it above average in webdesign, it is strongly recommended that you understand these tags.
What are three benefits of knowing HTML?
You can use tags the editor does not support.
You can read the code of other people's pages, and "borrow" the cool effects.
You can do the work yourself, when the editor simply refuses to create the effects you want.
Describe how you create a HTML document using a simple text editor.
All you need to do is type in the code, then save the document, making sure to put an .html extension or an .htm extension to the file

the start tag <b> indicates that whatever follows should be written in bold. The corresponding end tag </b> indicates that the browser should stop
I don't really care about using cell phones or tablets as a educational purpose.  If we use it we use it if we don't we don't, the teachers can use them for test.

Tablets will increase learning in high school.  It will help students when it comes to bringing books back and forth.  With the tablet you won't have to bring book to and from school you can just have the tablet with your books on it.  People will be able to get internet examples if they don't understand what is going on in class.
The tablets will be a great help,  the teachers will be able to give test on the tablet.  People will be able to see what they did wrong on the assignment.  Then they can change and correct themselves.  This is a effective way to increase learning.

How does flaming show a lack of respect? Do you respect people who flame others? Why?

Flaming shows lack of respect because the person is verbally abusing someone.  It's a bad thing to do to slander people.  I don't respect people who flame others.  It's bad and I would never do that.  It gives people bad reputations.

Do you think that the passing the HSPA should be a requirement for graduation? Do standardized test measure what you really know? Why?

I don't think HSPA should be a graduation requirement.  Some people can be bad test takers and fail the test and can't graduate.  That might be the determining factor and it might stop you cause it doesn't measure what you know.  It doesn't test you on what you on it's on what they want it to be.

Do you think the HSPA test should be given on a computer or over the Internet? Would most students do better or worse? Would the results be the same? Would you prefer to take the test the traditional way or on a computer? Why?

I don't think the HSPA should not be given on the computer.  It should be given the traditional way, people would get frustrated because the internet might not work or some problem can happen with the computers.  Thus the old more efficient way is better.  The result would be better on a written test.

Are you giving your best effort in this class? Do you always work to the best of your ability? What are you going to do to improve you effort in school and especially this class?

I am giving my best efforts in class,  I always strive to do good.  I am always working to the best of my abilities.  I try to do my work everyday.  I will work hard and avoid distractions to improve my grade in class.

Friday, October 14, 2011

One thing I would do different on my project is add more info to the project.

What do you like best about your project?

I like changing the color of the background the most about the project.

What do you think are the advantages off cloud computing? What do you like about the iCloud? What problems if any do you see with the iCloud?

The advantages of the iCloud is that you always get the what you download on your other devices.  This is so helpful because you don't have to waste more money and it takes less time.  I like that you can continue your work on any other device. I dont really see any problem with the iCloud.

Netiquette

Netiquette is how you act online. It's the way you treat people and present yourself to others. You have standards for how your suppose to act on the internet.

Rule 1 Remember the Human-

The golden rule your parents and your kindergarten teacher taught you was pretty simple: Do unto others as you'd have others do unto you. Imagine how you'd feel if you were in the other person's shoes. Stand up for yourself, but try not to hurt people's feelings.

Rule 3 Know where you are in cyberspace

What's perfectly acceptable in one area may be dreadfully rude in another. For example, in most TV discussion groups, passing on idle gossip is perfectly permissible. But throwing around unsubstantiated rumors in a journalists' mailing list will make you very unpopular there.

Rule 5 Make yourself look good online

As in the world at large, most people who communicate online just want to be liked. Networks -- particularly discussion groups -- let you reach out to people you'd otherwise never meet. And none of them can see you. You won't be judged by the color of your skin, eyes, or hair, your weight, your age, or your clothing.

Rule 6 Share expert knowledge

The strength of cyberspace is in its numbers. The reason asking questions online works is that a lot of knowledgeable people are reading the questions. And if even a few of them offer intelligent answers, the sum total of world knowledge increases. The Internet itself was founded and grew because scientists wanted to share information. Gradually, the rest of us got in on the act.

Rule 9 Don't abuse your power

Some people in cyberspace have more power than others. There are wizards in MUDs (multi-user dungeons), experts in every office, and system administrators in every system.

Knowing more than others, or having more power than they do, does not give you the right to take advantage of them. For example, sysadmins should never read private email.

Netiquette is the way you treat yourself an others online. Be mindful of where you are and always know what you are doing.

I think Steve Jobs was a great man. He changed the way the world works.   He developed great technology and shared it with everyone.  Steve Jobs made extraordinary things with his brain and made the world prosper.  He showed how anyone can do anything with their mind.

I believe you should treat people the way you want to be treated.  That's the way I live my life, I want people to treat me good but I could only get that if I treat people right.  I want to be able to go through life saying I did a good job treating people right.

I let this guide me through life as a way that I live.  This is kinda my motto, it's important because I base everything I do on this. Its like it determines what I do everyday.

What are some of the risks in cyberspace? How can you avoid these risks? What should you do to protect yourself when using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, etc.?

Some of the risk of the internet is giving out your personal information to strangers.  They can take it and use it to destroy your personal life.  Its very dangerous,  be careful in what you put out there on the internet.  Don't post or show embarrassing things on social networking sites.  It can lead to people taking your identity.

Why are Digital Citizenship and netiquette key to Online Safety 3.0?

Digital Citizenship is important because teachers and parents can know whats going on in the internet.  They would be there to protect someone if there getting cyber bullied.  They could  help the child from having a harmful internet experience.  This is a big way to prevent cyber bullying.

You walk in to the computer classroom. You sit down at your computer. You notice that the computer was left on. Someones online accounts, photographs and classwork is open. What is the right thing to do? What would you do? Why? Should you go into the other persons accounts?

The right thing to do is to sign out of that person stuff and not to look at it.  It would be wrong to look at someone else personal stuff.  I would sign out of their stuff without even a peek.  I would want someone to do the same if I did that.  That would be the right thing to do.

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

I think it's important to have good manners online because it still represents you and your parents.  It reflects your character and shows people how you act.  People can based their opinions of you on how you act online.  You never know who is looking at you online so you should always have good manners online.
Two advantages of watching how to videos is you can see what is being done and u can copy it.  Another is that if u miss something you can go back to the part you missed and do it.  I would rather watch a video tutorial than read a tutorial because a video shows and tells you what to.  A reading tutorial u might not get it so you need someone to show you.
That was cyber bulling, they were trying to destroy her self esteem.  That was messed up i would have stopped the bullying as soon as it started.  That was messed up, those girls should have been punished for what they did.  They need someone to punish them as make them feel bad.

Friday, September 16, 2011

Tell us your ideas about preventing bullying — and dealing with it when it does occur. Do you think laws like the one in New Jersey will help reduce instances of bullying? What do you think teachers and schools can do to improve school culture and reduce bullying? What approaches do you think can be effective? Do you see this problem getting better, worse or staying about the same in your school or community? If i

I think the laws should be enforced by a internet anti-bullying team.  This would help the chances of reducing the risks of getting bullied online.  People should try and form that kind of team so they can monitor the internet.  If they did have a team like that in the police stations they would be more of a help when parents need the help of the police.
Teachers and schools can help by being more aware of whats happening in the schools and communities.  This would be a lot more helpful because children would be less victimized at a younger age.  They would know they were safe and would comfortable when they go to and from school.  They could maybe make a big brother and big sister program to watch over some of the younger children.
The problems in my community and school have stayed the same over the years.  The problem doesn't grow nor decrease but one thing has grown is the amount of people getting bullied.  This need to be stopped someway some how but it needs to be stop.

Thursday, September 15, 2011

If someone took my name and identity on the internet I would be scared for my life.  People would blame me for something I didn't do.  Bullying is lightly handled in my school and community.  They may handle it but a lot of times they are blind to it even its right in their face.  I think the rules and policies are weak, they are ineffective they need to be developed more.  That is the only way to just even dent the problem.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Cyber bullying is a big deal so I think that it was right to pass that law.  It protects people that are getting bullied and they need another defense to keep them safe.  People try everything to harm someone by passing that law they have secured a way to stop this.  They took another way of bullying away from people.  This laws should be beneficial to everyone.

I think teens are more like to get in trouble on the internet than younger kids.  They don't know much of what they are doing, but we as teen know the dangers of internet.  We are aware of the potential threats that is faced on the internet.  Younger kids only explore the internet for fun not knowing of things that lurk behind the computer.  Therefore we as teens get in trouble for things we do on the internet

Monday, September 12, 2011

The internet can be a very dangerous place, it can be just as dangerous as the outside world.  People can try to steal your identity and try to seduce you on the internet. People try and steal your money by using the internet to get into your bank account.  Things can get even more serious as to someone stalking you on the internet.  The internet is very dangerous you just have to be safe and watch what you say and do.

Modern Technology makes life a lot more convenient.  The way of living has been more advanced since the beginning of technology.  Also now that we have more advanced technology it has increased the way of living.  The help of technology has helped develop life in the world.  Many people need to use technology because soon written down items will be no longer used.   Therefore technology has become a great use in society today.
